SPEECH THERAPY SERVICES
A licensed Speech Pathologist is available to address cognitive re-training needs, language
and communications, aural impairments and dysphagia or swallowing difficulties.
Programs that may be followed by a Speech Pathologist include:
Swallowing or dysphagia training to address:
· Residents who are experiencing altered swallowing patterns
· Evaluation for the possibility of aspiration
Rehabilitative feeding programs to address:
· Weaning from enteral feeding
· Management of feeding and swallowing deficits through compensatory strategies and
assistive feeding supplies
· Strategies and assistive feeding supplies
Cognitive re-training as able to address:
· Memory deficits
· Attention to task
· Sequencing and safety awareness
· Reasoning deficits
Assessment and treatment of hearing difficulties:
· Speech and communications programs
· Reading and listening
· Alternative Communication
